In My Diaper Bag: The Cat's Meow

One of my favorite ways to play around with current trends is through accessories. You can spend as much or as little as you want to stay in style. I've been a fan of cat eye sunglasses for some time meow. I picked up a cheap pair with tortoise frames from Forever 21 well over a year ago and have been in love with the style of frames ever since. I love them so much that I want a fancier pair in black.

Living in sunny Texas has made me picky when it comes to sunglasses. I prefer solid black frames, will make do with brown, but they must be solid. No gradiation for me. I once bought a pair of Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses from the mall only to return them a few minutes later because I got outside and realized they weren't cutting it.

These Tom Ford "Nikita" sunglasses were one of the first results on Google. At $340, they're way out of my budget. I'll drool over them but won't be buying them, unless I win the lottery.

Nicole Richie's line House of Harlow 1960 has a gorgeous design as well. They're not as exaggerated as the Tom Ford pair above and at $138, they're less than half the price.

Nordstrom carries them in tortoise with brown lenses.
I found the same House of Harlow glasses in black frames with black lenses from Adorn, a cute boutique in Portland. I pre-ordered them back in January and still haven't gotten them because the release date keeps getting pushed back. But last night I got an email from Adorn's owner Kelsey saying that they should receive them by the end of next week at the latest and ship them to me ASAP!

I can't wait to get these beauties!
They're also available in nude and wine for a more modern interpretation that's very meow. Personally, I prefer the black and tortoise.
If you're like most women and break or lose sunglasses often, then you may not want to spend that much money on them. You're in luck. A number of places have adorable cat eye sunglasses available for a fraction of the cost.

Target has these adorable Mossimo Tortoise pair for $16.99.
This Xhilaration black exaggerated pair is also $16.99 and look a lot like the Tom Ford pair I posted above. Unfortunately, they're not sold in stores and are sold out online.

Add a little pop of color to your outfit with this Forever 21 pair in mint green, which is going to be a very popular color this Spring. At $5.99 a pair, you can afford to buy them in coral and taupe as well!
