Is it fall yet?

July comes to a close in a few hours. Seriously, where did the month go? We started it on vacation in PA with friends and family. Someone must've hit the fast forward button after we got back. Tomorrow starts the beginning of World Breastfeeding Week. Happy Breastfeeding Week to all nursing mamas, past, present, and future! Congratulations on giving your baby(ies) the best start they could have!! Check out my last post to read about the Big Latch On event happening next Saturday.

I'm aching for a northeastern US fall. It's been over 100 degrees for almost 30 consecutive days in Texas and I would give my entire frozen breast milk stash for a day where I need a jacket. It doesn't help that Nordstrom just had their Anniversary Sale, where they sell new fall merchandise at a discounted price. I got a pair of beautiful leather boots. I've wanted a pair of nice, heeled boots for ages now. I didn't get them last year because I was pregnant and swollen feet would not have felt good in boots. If it hadn't been November/December during my last trimester, I would've worn flip flops. I can't wait until it's cold enough to wear them.

My favorite things about fall (other than boots and jackets) are sweaters and scarves. I also love fall and winter fashion (with its heaviness, dark neutrals, burgundies, and muted colors) far more than the gauziness and pastels of spring and summer. From the pictures I've seen it seems like plaid, polka dots, and rich blues and jade greens will be very popular. I can't wait to incorporate some of these trends into my clothing. I'm a big fan of buying inexpensive accessories that are on trend. You can't go wrong with Forever 21, Target, and Ross/TJ Maxx/Marshalls. They won't drain your wallet and typically they're not well made so they will fall apart by the end of the season. It's definitely a case of you get what you pay for.

Since this week is World Breastfeeding Week, I'll be posting entries related to my experiences. I will try to list things that have helped (and continue to help) me as a working nursing mother. I don't have all the answers, but I certainly do have my own unique experiences.

What are you looking forward to most about fall?
