I haven't done a Friday Favorites post in months! I put together a quick post featuring some of my favorite things. I've been trying to stay within budget and not spend a whole lot on myself. With the exception of 1 splurge (which has already had a great return on investment), I think I did pretty well. While I'm not against spending money on a quality and timeless product, I find that updating my style with inexpensive and trendy pieces works best for me. Here's what I'm loving lately:
Lately I've been into updating my jewelry with trendy spring styles. I've been running the gamut between dainty and bold. It's totally normal for me to wear delicate hexagon hoops one day, and big fringed teardrops the next, right?
I've been pretty open about makeup being my favorite (and easiest) way to practice self care. I recently learned about essie's Treat, Love, and Color nail treatments. My nails have been brittle ever since I got a shitty gel manicure over the holidays while on vacation. In addition to strengthening nails, they offer a range of colors from sheer to full coverage. My nails feel stronger and much less brittle.
Speaking (writing) of makeup, I am kind of obsessed with Colourpop cosmetics. If you haven't heard of them, they're a company that offers affordable cosmetics that still pack a punch! My latest favorite is their Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick in The Rabbit. It's a bright fuchsia with a blue sheen to it. I'm wearing it the picture with the world's unhappiest dino below. The best part about Colourpop is that you can get a TON of cosmetics for under $30 - we're talking pigmented eye palettes and shadows, highlighter, lipsticks, and eyeliners, and more! You can use this referral link to save $5 off your first order of $15 or more.
March brought in some much warmer weather to Austin. This little taste of our upcoming summer reminded me to pick up a couple of pairs of my favorite shorts. I'm a huge fan of Old Navy denim and their shorts are no exception. Their boyfriend shorts are a favorite of mine because of the relaxed style and just the right amount of stretch. The wider leg opening accommodates my thick thighs, but isn't so wide that it looks ridiculous. It's a fine line, people. I surprised the hell out of myself last year when I tried on 3" inseam shorts instead of 5", and loved the way they looked on me. For me, the shorter inseam hits me at a much more flattering part of my leg than the 5 inch.
My biggest splurge has been faux leather Spanx Moto Leggings. While pricey, they hold EVERYTHING in and make my legs look a million miles long. While the prices is steep at over $100 a pair, I think they're worth it for the woman who wants to be comfortable and casual, and wears leggings frequently. They're also available in a fabric blend if faux leather isn't your thing.
