Fall Beauty Essentials for the Busy Woman

Fall is my favorite time of the year. The cooler weather, the sun setting earlier, the sweaters, I love it all! The fall is also a fun time to play around with some beauty trends. Here are a few of my favorite fall beauty essentials, with links to shop, of course!

Smudgeproof Eyeliner

While the calendar may say October, the weather is still very summery in Austin. With highs in the 90s and plenty of humidity, it's important for me to have an eyeliner that doesn't end up under my eyes by lunch time. I've tried several different kinds out there, including cult favorites, but haven't found a winner yet.

Until now.

My awesome friend Jamie introduced me to Limelight by Alcone, a professional makeup company that has been providing cosmetics to TV, film, and Broadway for the past 60 years! They also have a line of all natural, cruelty free, vegan skincare for all skin types. Their Perfect Eyeliner Pen met all of my requirements: a true black, easy application since it's in pen form, and the best part - it doesn't smudge, even after hours in the heat! I recently wore it to a concert at night and despite the heat, humidity, and sweat, it didn't budge. All of my other makeup had melted off by the time we left, but not the eyeliner. Flawless Skin

I’m sure you’ve heard about Rihanna’s new makeup line, Fenty Beauty. I read so many great things about it – literally not one bad thing. Even my sister, who is my most trusted beauty confidante, gave it her seal of approval. I was really excited to try it, but afraid of disappointment. I was especially looking forward to trying the foundation. I’m a tough sell when it comes to skin coverage: my shade is tough to match (everything’s either too yellow or too ashy), and I generally hate the feeling of makeup on my skin. Even BB cream or tinted moisturizer feels too heavy at times. I was so surprised to find a shade that matched my complexion perfectly, even in daylight. The best part was that it felt light on my skin, but offered full coverage, especially when compared to my previous heavy foundation! Bottom line: Fenty Beauty lives up to the hype!

Berry Everything

Is it even fall if you don’t add some dark colors to the mix? I love the rich jewel tones that seem to be everywhere in the fall and winter. My favorites are those found in the dark red and purple families. My preferred way to incorporate the colors is on my lips or fingernails, but love adding accessories to the mix. If going with dark lips seems a little intimidating, try using a sheer formula that allows you to build up to your preferred level of intensity. I loved using these from Limelight, which appear much lighter than they look. You can learn more about Limelight by Alcone and try out products by joining Glamour by Jamie's Facebook group or by visiting her website.

Glow Baby Glow

Highlighter has been everywhere the last few years. While I typically prefer warmer shades, I’m really liking these cool, almost intergalactic shades. The iridescence is great for cooler fall weather and as winter begins in a few months, you’ll look like an ice princess in the best way possible. This palette from Sephora is a go-to, but there are other brands that make a great and pigmented highlighter.
